What's Your "Post-Game" Ritual?

Elite Force Airsoft Cabine and BBs on a rock

While the pre-game ritual is fueled by hype and adrenaline, the post-game ritual is where real veterans are made. It’s the difference between opening your bag next weekend to a moldy tactical shirt and a dead battery, or being ready to roll the second the whistle blows. To ensure your gear survives the day and your car stays clean, follow this "exit strategy."

  • The first step is a reset. Swap that damp combat shirt for the fresh change of clothes you (hopefully) packed; your car seats—and your passengers—will thank you. Next, clear your replicas and dump any excess BBs from your magazines back into their containers. Don't waste your ammo, and never leave your springs under tension.

  • The most critical step is managing your power source. Unplug your batteries immediately. Forgetting to remove them isn't just a minor oversight; it’s a fast track to permanent battery damage.

  • I’ve developed a strict mental checklist: the moment the battery is out, the gun goes straight into the bag. I’ve seen too many players get distracted by post-game banter and leave a high-end replica leaning against a tree or a staging table. Don't let your expensive investment become someone else's "lost and found" find.

Once your bags are zipped, the real work begins. Check your area—then check it again. I make it a habit to load the car completely, then return to my staging spot for one final walk-around. You’d be surprised how easily a black speedloader or a dark green gas tin camouflages into the dirt. If you want to hit the pro shop for some new gear, do it after your car is loaded. It keeps your hands free and ensures you don't get distracted before your current gear is secured.

Forgetting something during your pre-game ritual is an inconvenience; forgetting something during your post-game ritual at the field is devastating. While the airsoft community is great about turning items into the lost and found, you never want to spend your week worrying if your gear is gone for good.

A solid post-game ritual is a gift to your future self. It turns the frantic "last-minute scramble" of next Friday into a simple, stress-free check because you know everything was stored functional, clean, and ready for the next skirmish. And finally—drink your water. Recovery starts the moment the game ends.
