There is nothing that trains you better for emergency situations than real, tactile, tangible experiences. This is where training with airsoft comes in. Most fully functional airsoft handguns fit in the holsters made for the firearm equivalent. And increasingly airsoft models accept the most modern accessories like optical sights, as well.
These Aren’t Kid’s Toys
If you have never seen a full function airsoft pistol in action, just know that the magazine release will function just like your firearm’s release. Likewise, the slide stop and release will operate the same way. Airsoft guns offer much more than just a “dummy” tool to use in simulating scenarios. They function and they shoot and they are safe to shoot at other people provided proper PPE is worn.
That last point is the most important. Airsoft guns are the no-mess way to evaluate yourself and your security team on the two-way range. The only thing that will hurt is your pride when you make a mistake. Training with airsoft gives you immediate feedback on what works, what doesn’t work, and how to not make mistakes that jeopardize your congregation or team in high stress situations.
